Trump & Mueller Report

It is good news that we are told the President did not provably cooperate with an enemy government in seeking election.

The right's Deep State "witch hunt" of Trump and the left's "Mueller as Savior" collusion scenarios are both equally distasteful beliefs in conspiracies that match their holder's fears/desires.

The investigation wasn't a "witch hunt". It found widespread Russian meddling in the election, and widespread contacts between Trump's people and Russian influenced contacts. There was every reason to investigate.

Mueller had a single charter: Trump's campaign collusion with Russia on election tampering. Mueller's report on Trump's documented obstruction concluded he could not exonerate Trump himself. Why? And there are a dozen continuing investigations handed off to other agencies for irregularities outside Mueller's charter.

We should expect more from a President than merely being able to limit his involvement to just a reasonable doubt in colluding with a foreign government.

It is wrong to meet with Russian agents to try to obtain kompromat on your political opponent. It is wrong to encourage Russian intelligence agents to steal data from your political opponent. It is wrong to direct your lawyer to lie to Congress. It is wrong to payoff mistresses to further your candidacy. It is wrong to commit criminal campaign finance violations. It is wrong to hire foreign agents to run your campaign without proper vetting. It is wrong to attempt to obstruct the DOJ from its investigations. It is wrong to bypass security clearance failures to hire your son-in-law to a position of power.

And this list doesn't include following the money into Trump Inc. barely legal slimy business dealings which continue to this day, including monetizing the presidency by touting his properties and engaging in pay to play with the members and clientele of his clubs and hotels.

Trump’s defense budget: bloated, illegal, and doomed.

Another line has been crossed: In the last several years, defense spending has nearly equaled the discretionary budgets for all programs other than defense combined. In this budget, it finally surpasses them.

Neither the Republican Senate nor the Democratic House are likely to let slide a budget that gives defense $750 billion—a 5 percent increase over last year and more than the military chiefs requested—while cutting Medicare by $850 billion, especially since the cut would be enacted in 2020, an election year.
