Business Insider: How to transfer photos from your iPhone to a computer

How to transfer photos from your iPhone to a computer
Business Insider

You can transfer photos from your iPhone to a Mac or PC computer by connecting the phone to your computer's Photos app. Here are the corresponding steps for each process. If you have an iPhone - particularly any recent model of the phone - you also have a professional-quality camera that can catch great pics wherever you are. But storage for photos is limited on any device (unless you put everything in the cloud), so you may need to offload those great pics from time to time. Here's how to Read the full story

Shannon Waves | Mapping Dubliners Project

Yes, the newspapers were right: snow was general all over Ireland. It was falling on every part of the dark central plain, on the treeless hills, falling softly upon the Bog of Allen and, farther westward, softly falling into the dark mutinous Shannon waves. It was falling, too, upon every part of the lonely churchyard on the hill where Michael Furey lay buried. It lay thickly drifted on the crooked crosses and headstones, on the spears of the little gate, on the barren thorns. His soul swooned slowly as he heard the snow falling faintly through the universe and faintly falling, like the descent of their last end, upon all the living and the dead"

A Major-League Divorce | Vanity Fair

By showing the business had operating losses, the McCourts paid no federal or state income taxes on that $108 million, causing outrage in L.A. when reported by Michael Hiltzik of the Los Angeles Times: "To everyone who claims that our wealthiest citizens pay more than their fair share of income taxes and we should cut them a break because they're the ones who … create jobs in our economy, I have four words for you: Frank and Jamie McCourt." (Frank disputes the $108 million figure and says the taxes were deferred.

Interesting quote from "Lives Laid Away (An August Snow Novel Book 2)"

Hi - I'm reading "Lives Laid Away (An August Snow Novel Book 2)" by Stephen Mack Jones and wanted to share this quote with you.

"Do you really, honestly believe millionaires—billionaires—go to Las Vegas, Monaco, Ibiza, Playa Mujeres for strategy breakout sessions followed by a bit of high-stakes poker? No. Certain—appetites—can only be satisfied by well-trained, well-paid, beautiful women and young men who exceed most any sexual fantasy.""

Interesting quote from "August Snow (An August Snow Novel Book 1)"

Hi - I'm reading "August Snow (An August Snow Novel Book 1)" by Stephen Mack Jones and wanted to share this quote with you.

""I think you were probably breast fed by Ayn Rand, raised by L. Ron Hubbard and educated by Malcolm Forbes. I think you're a vindictive narcissist deluded by his own self-worth. I think you're probably capable of killing someone if, in your assessment, they impede your vision of a more powerful future. I also know for a fact that if you did kill Eleanor Paget, I would take you down hard, ugly and fast." Again, we stared at each other for a moment. Suddenly Atchison roared with laughter, rolling back on the sofa like a child and clapping vigorously. "That was so freakin' cool! 'I will take you down hard, ugly and fast,'" he repeated through his laughter. "Mind if I use that for this conference call I've got?""

The Art of Decision-Making | The New Yorker

Before having children, you may enjoy clubbing, skydiving, and LSD; you might find fulfillment in careerism, travel, cooking, or CrossFit; you may simply relish your freedom to do what you want. Having children will deprive you of these joys. And yet, as a parent, you may not miss them. You may actually prefer changing diapers, wrangling onesies, and watching "Frozen." These activities may sound like torture to the childless version of yourself, but the parental version may find them illuminated by love, and so redeemed. You may end up becoming a different person—a parent. The problem is that you can't really know, in advance, what "being a parent" is like. For Paul, there's something thrilling about this quandary. Why should today's values determine tomorrow's? In her 2014 book, "Transformative Experience," she suggests that living "authentically" requires occasionally leaving your old self behind "to create and discover a new self." Part of being alive is awaiting the "revelation" of "who you'll become."
